Not me... the movie. Now I've always liked Susan Sarandon but I'm affraid her well acted paranoia can't save the movie this time. It starts well, lovely house, of course since Sam Neil's character is supposed to be an architect, it makes you thinks it's a ghost movie in the beginning, then it's not a ghost movie it's a phychological drama, then no it's a thriller. But it drags too much for a thriller and the villan it's pretty obvious once the two identical dresses appear and then she watches the couple leaving from the balcony. Her motives are not quite clear for a while, she wants Sarandon's husband, she wants it really bad, you think after a while, and Sarandon doesn't need much help to go crazy after all. I'm glad they didn't use the cliche of killing the cat, the owl statues were creepy enough. The ending was very disappointing though, and I don't care if I'm spoiling the surprise, but while her given away daughter being dead and the other one having taken her place was a nice twist, this one being left free and going after her other two little girls just didn't work for me. I mean in the end it makes you think, wait a minute I put up with this for two hours and it still doesn't end? The movie just wasn't good enough to allow an open ending.
I'm still waiting to see Sarandon in a good inteligent film, though not another Thelma & Louise crap. I'm pretty partial to White Palace, mostly because of James Spader I guess, but who wouldn't be? When he goes after her and says 'I want you!' just listening to his voice is enough to make a woman wet her panties.
